Since April 2024, Skills for People has been working in close partnership with Newcastle Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust to improve healthcare experiences for people with a learning disability and/or who are autistic.

Our ‘Hear Our Voice’ group, funded by Newcastle Hospitals NHS Charity, is a learning disability engagement group that shares feedback and ideas on how Newcastle Hospital’s services can be made more inclusive and accessible.

We were delighted to be joined by many colleagues from across the Trust to launch a powerful new film created by the group. The film shows how thoughtful planning can make a hospital admission a much more positive experience for someone with a learning disability or who is autistic.

We’ve learned so much together through our collaboration, and we are incredibly proud of what we’ve achieved.
