Consultation and engagement – working to improve the world for disabled people
Skills for People supports disabled people (in particular people who have a learning disability and autistic people) to be leaders, sharing their experiences and ideas to improve the world.
They work in partnership with health and care services, to make sure people get the support which suits them. Each year we support councils and health organisations to consult hundreds of people who have a learning disability or are autistic: their views help improve local services. Our expertise when it comes to co-production mean we can support people to shape local services so that they are more inclusive, fair and effective.

Easy Information
All organisations that provide NHS care and/or publicly-funded adult social care are legally required to follow the Accessible Information Standard. The Standard sets out a requirements to meet the information and communication support needs of patients, service users, carers and parents with a disability, impairment or sensory loss.
Quality Checkers
Quality Checkers, an idea created at Skills for People, with people who have a learning disability, is now a national phenomenon. It is a programme where people who have a learning disability have a direct impact on the quality of the services that affect their lives.
Our Quality Checkers programme is a groundbreaking initiative that empowers people with learning disabilities to evaluate the services they use and ensure these meet the highest standards of care and accessibility.
