Skills for People stands with autistic people, their families and the UK’s leading autism and health charities in rejecting recent claims linking paracetamol in pregnancy to autism. There is no reliable evidence that paracetamol causes autism, and health authorities advise people to continue following NHS guidance on pain relief in pregnancy. Spreading misinformation about autism is harmful: it increases stigma, distracts from support that actually helps, and risks people avoiding safe treatments. Autism is a natural form of human diversity; vaccines do not cause autism; and policy and practice should be grounded in high-quality evidence and respect for autistic people’s rights.
